Have you ever thought about how well your body will age? Will you still be able to do the activities you love now in 10 years? How well will you be able to move?

Unfortunately, aging is inevitable and we can’t stay 21 forever. How well you age is impacted by many factors, some you can control and some you can’t. The good news is that there are many lifestyle choices you can make now that will have a positive impact on your health and wellbeing as you get older.

Here are some simple actions you can take now to ensure that you're still able to do what you love in ten, twenty or thirty years!

Your Body Is Your Temple

That may sound a little extreme, but in truth, in order for your body to last a lifetime, you need to treat it with respect. Which means taking really good care of it:

  1. Get enough sleep

  2. Incorporate movement throughout the day

  3. Eat the best and most nutritious food you can afford

  4. Drink enough water

  5. Laugh more

Try to avoid:

  1. Eating junk food with ingredients you can’t even pronounce

  2. Minimize your sugar intake

  3. Limit your consumption of alcohol

  4. Stress in your life

Managing Injuries And Reducing Pain

As you get older, you become more prone to injuries and don’t recover from them as quickly. It is also common to experience stiffness, as well as aches and pains throughout the body.

By maintaining good mobility, strength and fitness throughout your adult years, you can minimize those age related injuries, pain and stiffness. So what does that look like? It means incorporating both strength training and cardio into your exercise routine, as well as taking the time to regularly stretch and work on joint mobility.

Working with a good prehab/rehabilitation specialist will help identify and correct problem areas before they become a real challenge later in life. A prehab/rehabilitation specialist will also provide exercises and treatments to maintain a strong, resilient body that will last a lifetime and allow you to continue to do the activities that you love for a long time!
