At COAST, all of our practitioners believe in a hands on, exercise-based approach to treatment. Our goal is to work seamlessly as an integrated team to ensure the best possible care for our clients. That’s why our Chiropractors don’t rely exclusively on adjustments but instead apply a holistic approach to injury treatment and rehabilitation.
What Is A Chiropractor?
A Chiropractor is a primary healthcare provider trained in assessing, diagnosing, treating and preventing biomechanical disorders related to the musculoskeletal (MSK) system. After completing an undergraduate university degree, a Chiropractor must complete an additional four year program at an accredited chiropractic college.
Who Should See A COAST Chiropractor?
Everyone! Chiropractors can help treat a variety of different conditions and injuries. They are specialists in spine, muscle, and nervous system conditions. They can help treat specific injuries to your muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves and chronic musculoskeletal conditions.
You do not need a doctor’s referral to see a Chiropractor and often coverage is available through ICBC, WorkSafeBC and extended health plans.
What To Expect?
Many people believe that Chiropractors rely exclusively on adjustments for treatment and that once you see a Chiropractor, you will have to keep going back to see them for adjustments. This is a common misconception. Instead, once the Chiropractor has assessed the injury or dysfunction, they will recommend a treatment plan that is suitable for the patient’s needs. In addition to adjustments, Chiropractors utilize education, corrective exercises and soft tissue therapy to treat their patients.
At COAST, our Chiropractic appointments are not limited to 15 minute appointments. Our initial appointments are 40-45 minutes long. During this in-depth initial appoint, the Chiropractor will perform a detailed assessment of the injury and develop a patient-specific treatment plan. From there, our Chiropractors will recommend follow-up appointments that can range from 15 to 60 minutes depending on the nature of your injury and rehabilitation plan recommended.
Have you used up all your all your physiotherapy coverage? Our Chiropractors at COAST are a great alternative.
